Sleeping Pods at Riga Airport's Kepler Club
As a professional wildlife photographer with Wildlife Dreams, I’ve slept in some incredible places over the years—from remote hides in the wilderness to the less glamorous corners of airports. But last night, I added a completely new dimension to that list: staying at the Kepler Club inside Riga Airport, Latvia.
Riga is a great hub for both European and global travel, but as we all know, lots of travel often means lots of waiting. The Kepler Club has come up with a fantastic idea that blends a hotel with a social space where you can relax, recharge, and connect with fellow travellers—all without leaving the terminal.
The sleeping pods are straight out of a science-fiction film—sleek, futuristic, and surprisingly comfortable. Each pod is private, with its own TV (complete with Netflix and YouTube). If you’re claustrophobic, the compact design might feel a little tight, but otherwise it’s a unique and cozy way to rest.
After a good sleep, I jumped into a hot shower, with towels, slippers, and lockers all provided. Breakfast was simple but satisfying: cereal, yoghurt, fruit, croissants, pot noodles, and plenty of hot drinks.
You can return to your pod afterward for more rest or entertainment—or, like me, settle into the bright and airy social area. From there, I worked on social media, caught up on editing, and even played a few rounds on the arcade machines, all while overlooking the bustle of the airport.
Their slogan says it best: “Recharge yourself.” And I certainly did.
P.S. Check-in is available from 12 noon to 12 noon the following day—perfect for flexible travel schedules.
