Welcome to View from the Hide
Bears are on the move! Following last week’s disappearing Raccoon Dogs and Badgers, my near neighbour called to show me fresh bear tracks and a rather large amount of bear scat ,clear signs of activity as they search for a place to hibernate.
A recent drop in temperature may have encouraged this movement, but everything has since returned to normal.
I met with Remo, a local wildlife guide who offers excursions for small groups of up to three people in the field. This collaboration gives Wildlife Dreams in Estonia an exciting new dimension for guests looking for a deeper experience.
Our Autumn collection of images was captured from the Valley Hide in just one afternoon ,the colours, light, and movement in the valley truly showing off the season’s best.
Jays vs. Sparrowhawks!
With so many Jays around, the Sparrowhawk has been busy honing its flying and hunting skills against a stunning backdrop of autumn colours. Watching it fly from one perch to another and capturing it from different windows offers thrilling moments and beautiful images.
The first frosts arrived! Our reflection pool froze over, but thankfully, the kingfisher pond, with its waterfall and pumps stayed clear. Hopefully it will remain so for the rest of the winter.
Exciting news 😀 Simon McCabe has confirmed he will be making a wildlife documentary about Wildlife Dreams and the incredible wildlife of Estonia.
Sunday is work day. After observing wildlife behaviour, I’ve extended the bird table at the woodpecker window, providing a larger, clear flat surface with a beautiful background. The smaller bird table with the rock pool has also been raised, creating more space for our badgers, birds of prey, and woodland birds to enjoy.
