Into the wild: four days with the Iberian lynx
Seven photographic sessions with one of the rarest cats on the planet, in the dry golden landscapes of the Sierra de Andújar. Every image you capture is totally unique.

This isn’t about simply ticking a lynx off your list. It is about being there when a wild Iberian lynx suddenly appears — walking through the scrub, watching from a rocky outcrop, hunting, interacting, looking directly into your lens, or simply disappearing back into the landscape.
No two encounters are ever the same. Different lynx, different behaviour, different light, different backgrounds, different stories. Because we photograph these cats in their natural environment, you never know what the next frame will bring.
The seasons change the pictures as much as the cats do — flowers, green meadows, dry landscapes. This is the October departure, when the Sierra de Andújar is at its warmest and driest.
Evening session times shift with the weather and the light — the shape of each day stays the same.
We meet at Málaga airport and set off on a scenic three-hour drive into the heart of the Sierra de Andújar, with a relaxing stop along the way. Check in at Los Pinos, then head into the wild as the autumn afternoon light begins to fade for our first encounter with the elusive Iberian lynx.
Our last full day in the field, completing seven photographic sessions and a collection of unforgettable Iberian lynx images — the reward for four days of patience.
The photographic journey doesn’t have to end here. Return in April, when the Sierra de Andújar is transformed by a carpet of wildflowers — one extraordinary species, two very different seasons, a completely new portfolio.
Sessions are long and patient. We work the hours the lynx work — first light through late morning, then again from early evening until the light goes — with a siesta between so you can keep going for four days straight.
Your photographic host is with you throughout, on the settings and the fieldcraft as much as on finding the cats. Two field sessions, one extraordinary subject, four unforgettable days.
One Lens, Maximum Flexibility | 100–400mm / 100–500mm or similar focal length
For photographers who prefer to travel light, or need to react to movement and where you can’t use a tripod, a 100–400mm or 100–500mm zoom can be an exceptional single-lens safari solution. It provides enough flexibility to photograph everything from an environmental image to a portrait, while allowing you to quickly recompose as the animal moves.
The biggest advantage is speed and simplicity: no lens changes, less equipment to carry, and more time with your eye on the action. The 100mm end also gives you considerably more flexibility than starting at 300mm, particularly when a large animal approaches the vehicle, or on foot, as you are on this tour.
Fly into Málaga–Costa del Sol. We collect you there and drive three hours north to the Sierra de Andújar, with a rest stop on the way, and return you to the same airport on the final morning.
